Thanks for posting this article, which I read with interest even though it is directed to American Kindle users. As a longer-term traveller, as opposed to a tourist, I have a different issue with Kindle/Amazon. I want to subscribe to Amazon.com.uk, because they have a better selection of the sort of books I am interested in, and they are also cheaper than Amazon.com. According to the evasive answers I get from Amazon's call centres it seems you can't do this from outside Britain because of copyright and other restrictions. So I'm wondering: if I buy my Kindle in Australia, which Amazon bookstore will I have access to and will that access be cut off if I travel outside Australia? I don't want to end up with another bit of useless electronic junk as soon as I've read all the books I load before travelling out of Australia. Any advice would be welcome.

I can remember when it was a big deal when a fellow student had a laptop, now I can't imagine life without my tablet. Taking a note in a meeting no longer requires a note pad and pen. The possibilities for teaching applications are endless, virtual dissection for biology, upload the professors lecture especially used in combination with the new smart boards being added to classrooms it is exciting. Makes me wish I could go back to school. It would almost completely eliminate the need for traditional textbooks. Thinking about the tremendous costs for textbooks and that could be replaced by a tablet that averages $250.00, of course there would be a cost to download the e-books. My only concern is that the cost would fall on taxpayers. Great article!

Living a christian life is much harder than it used to be, as the invention of the internet brings many evils that are much more easily accessible than they were 100 years ago. Not to mention anger and patience for example. Have you read a comments section on youtube for example? It is amazing to read the overwhelming amount of negative posts, and with such vulgarity. Also things are so readily accessible now to youth that patience will be left behind for anything that one needs to work hard for to reap future rewards.

It will be interesting to see where we are in 15 years in this information/internet age.

I must agree that this focusses on the negative connotations of the developing web, as opposed to the growing benefits of connectivity, such as the impact of social media etc on the Arab spring, and increasing quality of Eductation for the youth through grater accessbility of information

If the music industry is smart, one of the things it will really capitalize on in the future is continuing to make the purchase of media and music as seamless and simple as possible.

When you have someone like lady gaga that is intimately connected to her fans through social media and the web, then as this article states, it can be a VERY powerful marketing channel.

All that's left is to be able to provide the customer with an option of purchase, with a single push of a button. That would be ideal, because people will PAY for convenience and simplicity. Itunes has come a long way, but there is still room for improvement. If it takes me 5 clicks to pirate a song or album, but only 1 click (and its reasonably priced) to download it. I will choose the later every time!

The trend itself is very alarming. I would much rather have a candidate who is “up close and personal, with their feet up, their guard down and, perhaps, a drink at the ready” than some guy sitting in his limo, "tweeting". Obama, in all of his oratorical glory is very distant from his actual supporters and voters, he is the first internet president, who is defined by a logo, an internet picture and a youtube video. If you think about it, all of politics right now is defined by this cloud "subjective internet reality", maybe that's why it's so horrible?
