The Berglund Center for Internet Studies at Pacific University facilitates both theoretical discussion and practical action relating to the impact of the Internet upon individuals and their communities worldwide. We study the effects of the Internet on the ways we work, communicate, teach, and learn. The audience for the Journal, then, is a very broad one including all those interested in the impact of the Internet.
We invite those with an interest in the impact of the Internet upon the individual and society to contribute to the Journal. Potential articles might stem from the author's experience in working with some element of electronic communications, in a business tied into the industry, as a teacher developing electronic materials or some other element relevant to our audience.
For most authors, the challenge in writing for the Journal will be to make one's particular experience relevant to a wider audience. Interface is not a publication organ for Pacific University, but is aimed at a far larger audience.
In addition, we are accepting submissions intended to be published under a peer review process. For standards for these submissions please go to: http://bcis.pacificu.edu/journal/2006/01/peerreview.php
We particularly welcome submissions from those interested in writing a regular column or feature for us. For examples, see: http://bcis.pacificu.edu/journal/2005/06/cady.php or http://bcis.pacificu.edu/journal/2005/06/pruett.php. For such columns, produced at regular intervals by arrangement with the editor, we make only a token payment of two hundred dollars per year. However, copyright remains with the author rather than with the Berglund Center. Some of our editors have produced e-books or submitted hard-copy manuscripts to conventional publishers based on their columns. We welcome these activities and will do our best to support them.
All queries are welcome and should be directed to Jeffrey Barlow, Editor, Interface. (barlowj@pacificu.edu. Please place "BCIS Journal" in the subject header.) Our style sheet can be found at: http://bcis.pacificu.edu/journal/style.php. Our schedule for submissions can be seen at: http://bcis.pacificu.edu/journal/schedule.php.
