Call for Editors, Interface

As Interface will in be published eight times per year with some peer-reviewed elements, we wish to
expand our editorial boards. We emphasize that at this time all of our editors are unpaid and that there are no meaningful perks besides an opportunity for frequent and regular publication and the opportunity to shape the intellectual content of an influential e-journal in a very important field. In short, editing is its own reward...

We invite applications from those with the following qualifications:

  • Contributing Editors: Those who might wish to submit a regular "feature" or column to each of our issues for 2006-07. Contributing Editors will be expected to publish seven times a year and in a regular and predictable fashion. We would like, for example, each of our editors to be at least one issue ahead of our publication schedule. For examples of current columns or features, see, for example: "

We wish to add these additional specialized features to Interface as soon as a qualified Contributing Editor can be found:

  • Adult Content/Pornography: This is a very difficult area to cover, obviously, and will require great sophistication and expertise. We presume that topics to be covered might include legal issues, recent developments, the relationship between pornography and technology, and many others. We will not link to pornographic sites, so this will be a very complex topic to cover.
  • Technical Editors: These should alternate between introductory pieces intended for relative beginners and more sophisticated pieces of interest to "power users". Or it is possible that two contributing editors might each produce a piece for each issue in one of these two categories. See past pieces published in our "Tech Corner" such as:
  • Book Review Editor: we are very interested in an additional book review editor. This editor would be expected to secure the works that they review.
  • Health and the Internet.  Our former editor, Kevin Kawamoto, had the largest audience of any of our writers.  After four years of producing a regular feature, Kevin has taken a sabbatical. We welcome those with an interest in this important area.
  • Other topic areas? For our interest in other topic areas of interest to you, please query barlowj@pacificu.edu.  It would be helpful if you would send us a writing sample as well.

How to Apply: Do not hesitate to query our interest in your candidacy by an email to barlowj@pacificu.edu prior to making formal application. The areas covered in Interface have developed relatively recently and many such fields have not offered formal credentialing until recently, if at all. You may be qualified as much by experience as by education, and we recognize this fact. Nor is relative youth a disqualification.
