Berglund Student Fellowships

For 2006-07 The Berglund Student Fellow has been awarded to Joseph Webb, a Freshman student from Grants Pass, Oregon. We have posted an article on Joseph and his project in the Sept-October issue of Interface. Congratulations, Joseph!

The Berglund Center for Internet Studies at Pacific University announces an annual Berglund Student Fellowship program in the amount of 1250.00 per year. The Fellowship is granted for one year but is renewable for four years upon reapplication and satisfactory  completion of previous Fellowship projects.

For the academic year 2007-08, the Fellow will be selected from among applicants to Pacific University for the class entering in Fall, 2007. One fellowship will be added per year until there are four Berglund Student Fellows on campus each year.

  • Criteria for Selection:
    • Applicants should demonstrate a high standard of academic achievement upon application and must remain in good academic standing throughout their tenure as Berglund Fellows.
    • For 2007, the Fellow must agree to work on a yearlong project with a specific outcome to be determined in consultation with the Director of the Berglund Center.
    • Future applicants should be able to demonstrate, either through academic record or multi-media materials (such as existing web pages), a history of interest and achievement in creating or studying materials produced for distribution on the Internet.  These could also include the creation of applications for use in distributing such materials.
    • Completion of the annual Fellowship project in a timely fashion will be necessary for reapplication for the Fellowship, which is renewable for four years.

For the class entering in Fall, 2007, the winner will be selected through a competitive process, which begins with self-nomination.  Interested applicants can contact barlowj@pacificu.edu and we will see that you receive appropriate application materials.
